Corporate Profile – Jon Andersen, ASID, NCIDQ #11249

Jon Andersen-Miller graduated from Vassar in 1984 with a degree in Art History. After moving to Boston in 1985, he enrolled in architecture classes at the Boston Architectural Center. He enrolled in the Center’s Interior Design program, from which he graduated in 1990. From 1990 to present, he’s been involved with the Center in other ways; he’s taught classes there including History of Modern Design and History of Furniture. He’s served on the Board of Trustees as ID Faculty Representative, and served on the Library Committee there for 15 years. Jon was employed by E. Verner Johnson and Associates, Museum Architects, 1986 through 1995. He worked full-time and freelance for the Boston decorating firms of Anthony Catalfano Interiors and William Hodgins Inc. After that he established the firm of Jon Andersen Design Service mid-1996.

The firm specializes mainly in residential design, occasionally taking on commercial projects. Recent commercial projects include the public spaces for an elderly housing project, and a high-rise condominium project, and a YWCA battered women’s shelter.

The ten-plus years Jon has spent working in residential design has allowed him to work on projects from historic brownstone townhouse renovations to new construction. Jon has provided all aspects of interior design to his residential clients, including: space planning, furnishings layouts, lighting designs, custom casework and furniture design, furniture selection and budgeting, color, materials and finishes specifications, site visits and construction coordination.
